Project objective

The general objective of this non-reimbursable investment operation is to encourage the conservation and restoration of mangrove ecosystems in Colombia through the following specific objectives: (i) recover and conserve highly biodiverse urban-regional wetlands and integrate them into urban development processes; (ii) strengthen community management schemes for mangrove conservation and develop sustainable economic alternatives for local populations; and (iii) systematize the lessons learned to scale the initiative to a greater number of coastal cities in Colombia.
